Machete Kills, which will be on display at the European Film Market during the
Berlin Film Festival.
The upcoming film is the second movie in a planned trilogy.
Danny Trejo will return to reprise his role as the deadly blade-wielding Mexican ex-Federale.
What started out as a gag trailer in 2007's Tarantino-Rodriguez team-up Grindhouse continues in the new film, which will follow Machete as he's recruited by the U.S. government to battle a Mexican Cartel and a bad guy bent on harnessing a powerful space-weapon.
Deadline says the sequel
“finds Machete recruited by the U.S. Government for a mission which would be impossible for any mortal man. Machete must battle his way through Mexico to take down a madman cartel leader and an eccentric billionaire arms dealer who has hatched a plan to spread war across the planet with a weapon in space. Machete takes on an army in an effort to dismantle a plan for global anarchy.”
