After the worldwide success of the Taken franchise, every producer wants a piece of
Liam Neeson. Now comes word via
The Wrap that Warner Bros. is close to making that happen by getting Neeson on-board for an action-thriller
The All Nighter (a.k.a. Run All Night).
The spec script penned by
Brad Ingelsby was being acquired by WB in January for a reported six figure sum. Ingelsby also contributed to Out of the Furnace, the upcoming film from Crazy Heart director Scott Cooper.
The story reportedly follows ‘an aging hit man who, in order to protect his wife and son, must take on his former boss in a single night. He then winds up on the run from the mob and the authorities with his estranged son.'
The Taken-esque premise is no doubt tailor-made to fit his chest.
There is no established release date as of this time, nor who will be directing The All Nighter project.
Neeson's upcoming films include the airline action thriller
Non-Stop and Scott Frank's adaptation of
A Walk Among the Tombstones, which is now in the process of finalizing a distribution deal with Universal via Exclusive Media. He will be lending his voice to the upcoming Lego: The Piece of Resistance.
Stay tuned.
