The last we got word on
Zoolander was in the fall of 2011 when
Oven Wilson said the story would pick up where the original, which premiered in 2001, left off.
Wilson would reprise his role as rival model Hansel MacDonald who has suffered the horrendous and disfiguring injury.
Now the U.K.'s
Telegraph reports that
Lady Gaga, real name Stefanie Germanotta, has been offered a role in Zoolander 2. Gaga's in fact been offered $4.8 million to play the love interest of dim-witted Derek Zoolander
(Ben Stiller) and his best frenemy Hansel (Wilson).
A Hollywood source reportedly said:
Gaga is top of their wish-list. She has the talent and attitude — and an amazing sense of humor.
But take that with a grain of salt since news of Gaga's possible casting actually comes from
The Sun, which is notoriously unreliable.
However, this appears to be part of a well-orchestrated effort to involve as many actual fashion figures into the sequel as possible since top-ntch designers
Tom Ford, Donatella Versace, Karl Lagerfeld, and
Claudia Schiffer are all reported to be making cameo appearances, as well as fashionistas
Kate Moss, Kate Upton, Heidi Klum and
Adriana Lima are all said to be next on the list.
Stiller wrote the script with
Justin Theroux (Evil DJ in the first film), who will direct the follow-up film for Paramount. Production is aiming for early next year.
