Things are not going so well with
Quentin Tarantino‘s upcoming
Django Unchained movie. First, we heard that
Kevin Costner is no longer attached to star in the whole thing.
Then,
Joseph Gordon -Levitt left it, and now, we're here to report that both
Kurt Russell and
Sacha Baron Cohen are no longer involved in this weird spaghetti-western as well.
So, I guess that the real question now is – who will actually star in Tarantino's movie? But relax, the good thing is that the most of the main cast is still on board –
Jamie Foxx, Kerry Washington, Leonardo DiCaprio, Christoph Waltz, Samuel L. Jackson and
RZA.
They make the leading cast in the story that will center on a freed slave who, under the tutelage of a German bounty hunter becomes a bad-ass bounty hunter himself.
As for Russell and Baron Cohen, things are not so clear. We know that Russell was originally set to replace Kevin Costner, in a role of Ace Woody, character described as a sadistic trainer of male fighting slaves and of female prostitutes.
Now, thanks to Jeff Sneider from Variety, we learned that: “Russell has exited the cast of Tarantino's movie. No reason given or replacement named…”
On the other hand, Sacha Baron Cohen, who was set to star as character named Scotty Harmony, a gambler who buys Django's wife as a female companion, announced his departure in a recent radio interview with Howard Stern. He revealed: “That was going to be a cameo, but I had to drop out because of ‘The Dictator press tour”.
Anyway, Django Unchained is currently filming, and is already set to open on December 25th, 2012. Which means just one thing – expect to hear a little casting update from us as soon as possible!
