A few months ago we had a little
chat about
Kill The Messenger, so I'm sure you already know all important details about this (true) story, right? Still, what definitely sounds great is that
Rosemarie DeWitt is in final negotiations to play the female lead in the whole thing! Read: DeWitt and (previously announced)
Jeremy Renner together on the big screen –
what could possibly go wrong?
At this moment we know that
Michael Cuesta is on board to direct the true-story thriller from a script written by
Peter Landesman, which follows:
…real-life, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Gary Webb, who exposed the CIA's involvement in Nicaragua's Contra rebel cocaine imports into California in the '80s. The CIA attempted to skirt the accusations, and Webb was found shot in the head twice. It was said he committed suicide.
Not hard to guess that Renner is set to play Webb, but unfortunately – still no details about DeWitt's character (except that she would come on board to play the female lead).
Anyway,
Kill The Messenger begins production this August in Atlanta, so I guess we'll soon have more updates to share.
Stay tuned!
