Kevin Zegers has signed on to star in the upcoming
The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones movie.
Dawn of the Dead star will join the cast which already includes
Lily Collins, Jamie Campbell Bower, Jemima West, Jared Harris, Godfrey Gao and
Lena Headey in the first in a series of adaptations of the best-selling books written by Cassandra Clare.
We previously reported that the
Harold Zwart directed movie will center on a young woman Clary Fray, played by Collins, who discovers she is the descendant of a line of secret cadre of half-angel warriors locked in an ancient battle to protect the world from demons. Or, as they already promise us – this will be a magnificent urban fantasy rich in detail and suspense, about a girl's journey to the darkest corners of the underworld to save those she loves.
As for the above mentioned cast, Campbell Bower is on board to play Fray's love interest, character named Jace, who, by the way, also becomes an object of affection of Alec Lightwood. As you already guess, Alec is the gay brother of Jemima West's character – Isabelle Lightwood, and quite logically he hates Clary because she comes between him and Jace.
Yeah, things will get pretty messy out there, but hey – it' 21st century, let the kids enjoy in…whatever they're doing…
Anyway, the movie is currently set to open on August 23rd, 2013, and as usual – we'll keep an eye on it, so stay with us!
