Now it looks like
Kevin Costner may be signing on to
Zack Snyder's upcoming
Superman: Man of Steel. As
Deadline reports Costner is up for a “key role” in the flick.
Costner most recently co-starred in
John Wells-directed
The Company Men and he has certainly been in good guy shape lately. Beyond his performance Costner came up as an unlikely superman in aiding cleaning support in the Gulf of Mexico oil spill. Besides, he was made recognized thanks to a string of hit movies including
Dances with Wolves,
Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves and
Field of Dreams.
We had
earlier posted that British actor
Henry Cavill would play the titular Man Of Steel. After casting Cavill was not assured if he is ready to play such a role but the director did not react that way:
He walked out, and no one laughed. Other actors put that suit on, and it's a joke, even if they're great actors. Henry put it on, and he exuded this kind of crazy-calm confidence that just made me go ‘Wow.' Okay: This was Superman.'”
The obvious question is what “key role” Costner will be getting.
Jor-El, and
Perry White doesn't seem like a good choice, either is the clever idea to bring him on as
Lex Luthor. Even as it would be interesting to see Costner play a villain it seems likely
Clark's adopted father,
Jonathan, is the most expected pick now, but since his role isn't yet locked it's all just guesswork at the moment.
As you know, Superman: Man of Steel is being produced by
Chris Nolan,
Charles Roven,
Emma Thomas and Deborah Snyder, with
David S. Goyer writing the script from a story he co-wrote with Nolan. The movie is expected to hit the theaters in December 2012.
Tell us who do you see Costner as in the upcoming Superman movie?
