Noah Baumbach has signed on to direct
The Emperor's Children for Imagine Entertainment, and looks like he already picked up a well-known names to be in this project's team:
Richard Gere, Eric Bana and
Keira Knightley!
So let the adventures of three friends in New York City begin!
So, Baumbach wrote the script for
The Emperor's Children based on
Claire Messud‘s 2006 best-selling novel of the same name.
It's been already named as a story “of fate and fortune, of innocence and experience, seduction and self-invention; of ambition, including literary ambition; of glamour, disaster, and promise.”
Actually, as we mentioned, it is a story about three friends and their lives in NYC, so we have Marina Thwaite, the daughter of Murray Thwaite, celebrated intellectual and journalist, finishig her first book, and her two closest friends – Danielle a quietly appealing television producer, and Julius, a cash-strapped freelance critic.
This is a trio of Brown University graduates who are approaching their 30s with trepidation as they struggle to realize the lofty expectations held for their personal and professional lives.
The rest of the story goes like this: “…the delicious complications that arise among them become dangerous when Murray's nephew, Frederick “Bootie” Tubb, an idealistic college dropout determined to make his mark, comes to town. As the skies darken, it is Bootie's unexpected decisions and their stunning, heartbreaking outcome that will change each of their lives forever.”
Yeah, you can already imagine
Keira Knightley in the role of Marina Thwaite, and
Richard Gere will probably play her well-known father.
When it comes to the rest of the cast,
Eric Bana could be Julius or Danielle, and as you see, somebody is missing, so we guess we'll have to wait and see who will join the Emperor's team.
There's still time for a decision, since it starts shooting this summer.
We have no doubt that Baumbach will have success with this adaptation, and since we know all this names are attached, we can only hope to hear more informations, especially those refering to possible cast. So, stay tuned!
