
Universal is reportedly bringing
Justin Lin, who made his name directing the last four
Fast & Furious movies to helm another action franchise, the follow-up film to
The Bourne Legacy.
The untitled sequel to
The Bourne Legacy is moving forward with
Anthony Peckham (Sherlock Holmes) writing the screenplay and
Jeremy Renner is expected to return as Treadstone agent Aaron Cross as well.
According to Deadline, it's a done deal, with
Frank Marshall and Captivate Entertainment's
Ben Smith and J
effrey Weiner also back as producers, and Lin will produce through his Perfect Storm banner, too.
The project is still considered a high priority at studio, though no production schedule is given at this time.
Universal denied a rumor that that they're talking with Matt Damon or director Paul Greengrass about returning to the franchise.
Lin has strong action chops and has plenty of fans at Universal with the last three
Fast films he's directed totaling more than $1 billion in worldwide returns.
