The Three Colors trilogy star
Juliette Binoche would reportedly join
Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen and
Bryan Cranston (not mentioned in
Variety's report) in Legendary's upcoming reboot of
Godzilla.
Del Toro's
Pacific Rim or
Gareth Edward's
Godzilla have so much attention paid to the casting phase and boast pretty terrific casts, which is rare for movies with giants monsters. (However, there was also no mention of the
indie darling Elizabeth Olsen in this latest report.)
Character descriptions, along with plot details are being kept under wraps, but rumors have been floating about for some time suggesting that the story centers on a soldier and involves at least two monsters in addition to the titular creature.
Production is set to begin next month with the latest draft of the script written by
Frank Darabont and based on the classic monster from Toho Co., Ltd .
We can all find out when
Godzilla opens on May 16th, 2014.
Binoche won the Academy Award for her performance as Hana in Anthony Minghella's
The English Patient and she was again nominated for an Oscar as best actress for
Chocolat. She recently appeared in David Cronenberg's
Cosmopolis and will soon be seen in
Camille Claudel, 1915; a biopic about the titular sculptress, written and directed by Bruno Dumont.
Stay tuned.
