Sad news coming out of
Thor: The Dark World —
Josh Dallas will not be reprising the role of Fandral, one of the Asgardian's best warriors and a member of the Warrior's Three.
The thesp had the following to say to
EW
I'll be missing out on wearing all that hair! The timing wasn't right. I'm bummed about it because I had such a great experience and great time making the first film and was really excited about coming back. Marvel and Disney tried to make it work. But because of my commitment to Once Upon a Time, I was not going to be able to do both. So I'll have to hand the reins over to someone else. I love Marvel. I wish them all the best. I will certainly be first in line to see it. On the other hand, I'm going back to the best job on TV. I love it and can't wait to delve in more.
However, as the start date for shooting on
Thor 2 approaching fast, we have received word from
Heat Vision that Chuck leading man
Zachary Levi is up to take Dallas' place as Fandral.
No doubt, Marvel Studios and Walt Disney Pictures wasted no time to find replacement — Levi hasn't begun formal negotiations with Marvel, but an offer is imminent.
Shooting for Thor 2 is expected to kick off in July. Returning as the titular hero is
Chris Hemsworth with
Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba, Natalie Portman and
Anthony Hopkins returning as Loki, Heimdall, Jane Foster and Odin, while
Mads Mikkelsen is in negotiations to play another major villain aside from Loki.
Directed by Game of Thrones helmer
Alan Taylor, the second God of Thunder movie is scheduled to be released in the United States on November 15th, 2013.
Would you like to see Levi join a trio of Asgardian adventurers?
