The man of Ireland,
Jonathan Rhys Meyers will reportedly join the cast of
The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones based on Cassanda Clare's YA fantasy novel ‘The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones'.
The Tudors fans are going to really appreciate this news as Meyers, who played Henry VIII in raunchy BBC series, would play Valentine Morgenstern, a powerful, but insane Shadowhunter looking to make the world pure at any cost.
Harald Zwart (The Karate Kid remake) is directing the movie from a script by
Jessica Postigo and
I. Marlene King, which is supposed to begin production this month in Toronto.
Lily Collins leads the cast as a young woman who discovers she is the descendant of a secret cadre of half-angel warriors called Shadowhunters locked in an ancient battle to protect the world from demons.
A pretty solid cast also includes Game of Thrones star
Lena Headey, Mad Men's
Jared Harris, Camelot's
Jamie Campbell Bower and
Kevin Zegers.
Meanwhile, Meyers is returning to TV by starring in the upcoming television series ‘Dracula' for NBC, which is said to be a twist on the classic horror tale.
