A detail-obsessed, eccentric writer/director
Wes Anderson is reteaming with his Moonrise Kingdom collaborators
Scot Rudin and
Indian Paintbrush, the film financing and film production entity backed by billionaire
Steven Rales.
His ability to pull together eccentric actors leads him to pursue a top-notch ensemble cast for his next feature, with stars like
Johnny Depp,
Jude Law, Angela Lansbury as well as previous collaborators
Bill Murray,
Owen Wilson,
Edward Norton,
Jeff Goldblum,
Adrien Brody, and
Willem Dafoe.
Now comes word that Depp is the first to sign on for
The Grand Budapest Hotel, which is the title of Anderson's next.
Anderson wrote the script for which will be his eight movie with a friend who has never been involved with the film industry before. The follow-up to his summer's art house smash Moonrise Kingdom would be set in Europe.
Depp is currently still at work on The Lone Ranger for Disney and was set to reteam with Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides director Rob Marshall on a remake of The Thin Man, but he will likely make Budapest next.
Stay tuned.
