A Hollywood darling
Jennifer Lawrence is set to reunite with her
Silver Linings Playbook co-star and director,
Bradley Cooper and
David O. Russell, for his next film, which is currently untitled, but has been referred to in the
past as
American Bullshit.
Best Actress nominee Lawrence will
reportedly play a lead role in the film that features a star-studded cast including
Christian Bale, Jeremy Renner, Amy Adams, and
Louis C.K.
Actually, she'll play wife to Bale who was set to play the lead, but was replaced by Renner, and then jumped back on in a supporting role.
The Argo-like movie, written by
Eric Warren Singer, tells the true story of Abscam (contraction of ‘Abdul scam', Abdul being the name of the fake sheikh at the core of the sting), an FBI's 1970 undercover sting operation led by a federal agent Jimmy Boyle (Cooper) who teams with the world's best con artist Mel Weinberg (Bale) to set up a fictional company headed by a fictional Middle Eastern sheikh in an attempt to trap corrupt public officials.
A New Jersey state assembly leader (Renner) is also in the mix and Adams will portray Maxine ‘Max' Gardner, the mistress and co-conspirator of Bale's character, while Lawrence will play his wife, who is presumably unaware of all of his shady deeds and Louis C.K. as an FBI agent, of course.
Production is set to begin this month, and we won't be surprised if this one races for next year's Oscars.
