It's confirmed!
Benicio Del Toro will indeed star in the upcoming
J.J. Abrams Star Trek 2. Actually, Abrams confirmed he's still in negotiations with Del Toro, but that he would love to work with him. We have nothing against this news, especially because there's a rumor Del Toro would play a villain. Unfortunately, there are still no details about that villain role, but who cares, we have more updates on Star Trek 2, so pay good attention!
First of all, the official release date for Star Trek sequel has been revealed so let's get straight to the point. The movie is set to open on May 17th, 2013. The sequel's script is currently being written by Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci and Damon Lindelof, and the production is expected to start early next year. While we're still here let us also mention that the Oscar-winning composer Michael Giacchino is on board again as well. He confirmed that by saying:
Yes, I'll be back. I'll be there just as soon as they finish it.
Then, believe it or not, according to folks from Deadline, it looks that Star Trek sequel will be in 3D after all, even though Abrams earlier claimed that he didn't consider about making the sci-fi movie in 3D. I guess everything is better than post-converting.
Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto and Zoe Saldana are all set to reprise their roles, while the rest of the cast also includes Simon Pegg, Anton Yelchin, Karl Urban and John Cho. And, Del Toro of course!
Stay tuned for more updates on Star Trek 2!
