Guess we're all interested in
Guillermo del Toro's upcoming
Pacific Rim project after the director promised us that we'll have a chance to see
the finest fucking monsters ever committed to screen.
We're more than ready to see del Toro's monsters, but until that happens – let's take the first (and quite interesting) look at
Idris Elba and his cool black costume from the whole thing.
So, Elba is
bringing sexy back, or something like that, but he surely looks good.
And all that because he's on board for a pretty weird story which centers on a war between aliens and giant robots piloted by humans.
Or, if you prefer – on one side we have the legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, and on the other hand – massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge.
But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes – a washed up former pilot and an untested trainee, who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind's last hope against the mounting apocalypse.
Beside Elba, the movie also stars
Charlie Hunnam, Rinko Kikuchi, Charlie Day and
Ron Perlman.
Pacific Rim is set to open on July 12th, 2013.
