Consider this as a huge rumor, but at least admit that it sounds great! Not just because
The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel is finally getting a sequel, but because some seriously good (and you already see
how good in our title) cast
could come on board!
Helen Mirren and
Colin Firth are apparently in talks to join previously announced
Judi Dench,
Maggie Smith,
Dev Patel and
Bill Nighy. Yeah, take the original cast and add two great names to the list and you get what? The perfect sequel, exactly!
we revealed that
Ol Parker is once again on board to pen the script for a follow-up to the original film. Now, there are rumors that director
John Madden will return to direct the sequel as well.
But that's not all. According to the latest reports, Madden and Parker are looking for an American actress possibly to round out the cast, and in addition to that – let us also mention that the sequel will continue the adventures of Dench & company in India.
Anyway, until we hear something official about the whole thing, I will once again remind you that the original movie was based on
Deborah Moggach's novel titled
These Foolish Things and soon became a huge success at the box office (made $130 million worldwide from a budget of just $10 million).
The comedy centered on group of British retirees who decide to “outsource” their retirement to less expensive and seemingly exotic India.
I definitely love these rumors. I mean, just imagine Mirren and Firth in this kind of project? Already looks hilarious.
As for the
American actress part, the only face I can imagine right now is
Meryl Streep. Wait! Let me think again.
Sorry, it's still Streep in my head.
What do
you think?
