Oscar-nominee
Hailee Steinfeld has now come aboard as
Kevin Costner's teenage daughter in an untitled action thriller that
McG is set to direct.
Formerly known as Three Days to Kill, the project from writer
Adi Hasak (From Paris with Love) and
Luc Besson along with Besson's darkly comedic action movie Malavita are two films on which EuropaCorp and Relativity will collaborate as a part of a co-production deal announced in May.
The thriller will follow a dying Secret Service agent Ethan Runner (Costner) who decides to retire in order to reconnect with his estranged daughter (Steinfeld). But when the Secret Service offers him access to an experimental drug that could prolong his life in exchange for one last assignment, he soon finds himself trying to juggle his family, his mission, and the drug's much-unwanted hallucinatory side-effects.
Costner's showing no signs whatsoever of slowing down any time soon, while Steinfeld, who just turns 16, stars in several upcoming films including John Carney-helmed Can A Song Save Your Life?, Carlo Carlei-directed Romeo And Juliet, and the Gavin Hood-directed Ender's Game.
And here's hoping McG, who was responsible for releasing less-than-beloved titles like two Charlie's Angels films, doesn't screw this one up.
