In case you're not so familiar with the upcoming
Carlos Suara‘s project, titled
Guernica 33 Days, I will first inform you that it will be one of the biggest Spanish films going into production this year.
Then, you should also know that
Antonio Banderas is already on board to play the lead (always a good choice, I guess).
And now, all of the sudden comes the word that
Gwyneth Paltrow is attached to star in the whole thing as well. Some serious cast, or what?
Guernica 33 Days is actually the tale of Pablo Picasso's emotional turmoil as he painted his masterpiece.
Quite logically, Banderas will play Picasso while Paltrow will play his lover Dora Maar, a Spanish-speaking French photographer, who snapped the stages of Guernica's creation. And don't worry, Paltrow speaks Spanish!
The rest of the cast will include
Imanol Arias, who will portray writer Jose Bergamin and
Barbara Goenaga who is set to star as Picasso's assistant.
Saura co-wrote the screenplay together with Spanish producer Elias Querejeta and French scribe Louis-Charles Sirjacq, and at this moment we know that this project has $10.4 million budget.
Shooting on Guernica 33 Days will start this September.
What do you think about this cast?
