Mortdecai, I'm sure you're familiar with this crime drama? Yeah, yeah, the movie which already stars
Johnny Depp as an eccentric art dealer. Good then, here comes another great news – we've just learned that
Gwyneth Paltrow and
Ewan McGregor are in some serious talks to join Depp, although there's still no word on which characters they would play in the whole thing.
But one thing is for sure – the
Lionsgate upcoming pic definitely sounds promising. They already have
Premium Rush helmer
David Koepp on board to direct the movie from a script written by
Eric Aronson, while Depp, Christi Dembrowski and Andrew Lazar are set to produce the project.
Just in case you forgot – the whole thing is actually an adaptation of
The Great Mortdecai Moustache Mystery by
Kyril Bonfiglioli, which revolves around:
…Charles Mortdecai, a debonair art dealer and part-time rogue who must traverse the globe armed only with his good looks and special charm in a race to recover a stolen painting rumored to contain the code to a lost bank account filled with Nazi gold.
Depp plays that Charles guy, who also has to juggle angry Russians, the British Mi5, his impossibly leggy wife and an international terrorist.
And that's basically all we know about the project at this moment. Let us also add that
Mortdecai will go into production in the fourth quarter of this year, so I guess we'll soon have more updates to share.
Make sure you stay tuned!
