Gerard Butler is reportedly in advanced negotiations to star in
Manhunt, an action-thriller scripted by
Mark Fergus and
Hawk Ostby (Iron Man, Children of Men).
Directed by
Breck Eisner (The Crazies), Manhunt involves an FBI team sent to the North Carolina wilderness to chase James Tollan, a domestic terrorist and ruthless survivalist who has evaded capture with the help of local population.
Tollan's repeated attacks on the federal government have marked him as the FBI's most-wanted. The team enlists a reluctant local bear hunter to help capture Tollan, but finds that the terrorist will stop at nothing to defend his territory once they enter his woods.
While the report doesn't specify the role, it isn't clear whether Butler is lining up to play Tollan or the bear hunter, but if I had to bet on it, I'd put my nickels down to assume that Butler is up for ‘friendly bear-hunter.'
The Manhunt project is set to begin production at the end of the year, therefore, there's time for Butler to squeeze ‘in a few hours' to work on projects that have been already attributed to him, including Albert Hughes' Motor City, diamond heist flick Brilliant, sci-fi thriller Afterburn and ‘assault on the White House' thriller Olympus Has Fallen.

Of all his projects The Manhunt is the one that most caught my attention. And whatever role you assume it will do very well because Gerry brings much passion to their roles. Good luck Gerry. I hope everything is carried out.
