As we previously reported,
Ryan Coogler directed the whole thing from his own script which is based on the true story of Oscar Grant, a 22-year-old man who was killed by BART police officer Johannes Mehserle at the Oakland, California Fruitvale Bay Area Rapid Transit Station.
In case you've missed our earlier reports, we definitely recommend you to check out the first
trailer, some great
clips and the latest
poster for the movie which is set to open on July 12th, 2013.
I will once again remind you that, beside the above mentioned Jordan and Spencer, the rest of
Fruitvale Station cast includes
Melonie Diaz,
Ahna O'Reilly,
Kevin Durand and
Chad Michael Murray.
Oscar Grant wakes up on the morning of December 31, 2008 and feels something in the air. Not sure what it is, he takes it as a sign to get a head start on his resolutions: being a better son to his mother, a better partner to his girlfriend Sophina, and a better father to Tatiana, their beautiful four year-old daughter. Crossing paths with friends, family, and strangers, Oscar starts out well, but as the day goes on, he realizes that change is not going to come easily. His resolve takes a tragic turn, however, when BART officers shoot him in cold blood at the Fruitvale subway stop on New Year's Day.
Let us know what you think about this featurette and stay tuned for more updates!
