Walt Disney Studios has unveiled a new gloomy looking poster for
Tim Burton's
Frankenweenie on the film's official
Facebook page, where all you film fans can see it in action.
The black and white poster shows the tombstone of central character Sparky, a dog that is brought back to life by his young owner Victor.
A feature-length stop-motion remake of the original short film by Burton, Frankenweenie is a heartwarming tale about a boy and his dog. After unexpectedly losing his beloved dog Sparky, young Victor harnesses the power of science to bring his best friend back to life—with just a few minor adjustments. He tries to hide his home-sewn creation, but when Sparky gets out, Victor's fellow students, teachers and the entire town all learn that getting a new ‘leash on life' can be monstrous.
‘Frankenweenie' is a re-imagining of Burton's 1984 short film of the same name, which will retain the black and white color scheme used in the first version. The film features the voices of
Winona Ryder, Martin Short, Catherine O'Hara and
Martin Landau.
The screenplay was penned by
John August (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) from a story by Tim Burton and Leonard Ripps.
Frankenweenie opens in theaters nationwide in 3D and 2D theaters on October 5th, 2012.
