FRANKENSTEIN Gets Paul McGuigan as Director

Frankenstein Another retake on what has already been recycled for far too many times is going to get a green light in Hollywood – Director Paul McGuigan (Lucky Number Slevin, Push) is in final talks to direct Fox’s Frankenstein. I honestly consider giving up on Hollywood, maybe still see some of the indie films and some superhero story, but that’s it. Its ‘Golden Age’ has long passed – Hollywood today is like an ancient swamp, drowning in its own mires of uninventiveness and inability to produce a new and interesting story. At the least. Anyway, Shawn Levy was originally attached to direct, although insiders say the filmmaker and studio had different visions for the project. Shawn Levy wanted a big-budget affair, while the studio wanted to cut costs and hope for bigger profit, as usual. Max Landis (Chronicle) has signed on to write the screenplay and sources claim the story will be a revisionist take on Mary Shelley’s classic novel, with a sci-fi twist (I just hope it won’t turn out as Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter). The story will also tackle themes such as friendship and redemption. No production schedule was given at this time. Frankenstein should come to theaters some time in 2014, so stay tuned!
