Sci-fi thriller
Last Days on Mars is
Ruairi Robinson's feature directorial debut. Oscar-nominated Irish director Robinson (animated short Fifty Percent Grey) has begun shooting in Jordan and the film will soon be ending its eight week shoot.
He is directing a script by
Clive Dawson based on Sydney J. Bounds' short story and now we've got the first image from the forthcoming sci-fi horror featuring a serious
Liev Schreiber (Scream) against blood splattered window.
Last Days on Mars also stars
Johnny Harris (Snow White and the Huntsman),
Elias Koteas (Shutter Island),
Goran Kostic (Taken),
Olivia Williams (The Ghost),
Romola Garai (Atonement) and
Tom Cullen (Weekend).
The story follows an astronaut crew on an exploratory mission to Mars who, in their last hours on the planet, discover colonies of bacteria living deep within the permafrost. But what should have been the discovery of the century rapidly turns to horror when one of the astronauts has a fatal accident and his body taken host and re-animated by the very life form they sought to discover.
The sci-fi is expected to arrive in theaters in 2013.
