We now have our first official image from director
Baltasar Kormakur's gritty midbuget thriller
2 Guns, based on the graphic novel of the same name by Steven Grant.
Mark Wahblerg and
Denzel Washington are teaming up for the first time for a story about a DEA agent and an undercover Naval Intelligence officer who have been tasked with investigating one another without knowing each other's secret identities, only to find out they've been played by the mob.
We assume the photo below is from a slowmo scene shot on high-speed cameras (there are $100 bills just scattered about) that in the trailer will be backed by a hot Jay-Z freestyle, or something like it.
Kormakur (Contraband) is directing from a script by Law & Order: LA writer
Blake Masters the actioner, also starring
Paula Patton, James Marsden, Edward James Olmos, and
Bill Paxton.
2 Guns
opens late this summer on August 16th, 2013.

Here are more of the details:
A pulp story about cops and thieves and the men that are something in between. Trench has targeted a local bank to rob, and asked Steadman in on the job. Trench figures it's a great way to score — considering it's a cover for mob money. They'll be thieves ripping off thieves. But what Steadman doesn't know is that Trench is a DEA agent. And what Trench doesn't know is that Steadman's a Naval Intelligence officer. They're both cops! And neither one knows that they're not robbing the mob, they've been set up to steal $50 million from the CIA!
