Vin Diesel announced at CinemaCon in Las Vegas last night (above) that the seventh film in the
Fast & Furious series will hit theaters on July 11th, 2014.
Universal faced with a difficult choice to pick the director (
Justin Lin) who's given the studio four consecutive mega-hits or it could have the seventh film turned around in just over a year, decided to sacrifice its director to do so and recruited an interesting replacement in
James Wan who committed to one hellaciously strong production schedule That leaves just 14 months between sequels.
Lets just hope the fast tracked production doesn't indicate a lower quality blockbuster.
Besides,
Dwayne Johnson will be collaborating with director Brett Ratner on
Hercules, which is also shooting later this year, so perhaps that'll make-up for him being absent in Fast & Furious 7. Still,
Deadline has assured us that the entire cast including Johnson, Diesel,
Paul Walker, and
Tyrese Gibson is set to return.
Meanwhile, Fast
And Furious 6 opens May 24th, 2013.
