Prime Video's upcoming series adaptation of Ed Brubaker's renowned graphic novel series, Criminal, has just added a major star to its lineup: Emilia Clarke. Known for her iconic role as Daenerys Targaryen in Game of Thrones, Clarke is set to captivate audiences once again as Mallory, a slick and daring armed robber in this thrilling new series.
Criminal weaves the intricate tales of several generations of families bound by the crimes and murders of their past. Clarke's character, Mallory, is described as quick with a gun and even quicker with her wits. She is part of a heist crew led by Ricky Lawless, played by Gus Halper, with whom she shares a passionate, Bonnie-and-Clyde-like affair. Mallory's life on the edge and her hidden secrets promise to plunge her and her crew into perilous situations.
The series also stars Charlie Hunnam as Leo, a master thief who prides himself on non-violent, strategic heists. Leo's calculated approach often clashes with the more aggressive tactics of his peers, including his father, Tommy, known for his notorious past. The stellar cast is rounded out by Adria Arjona, Richard Jenkins, John Hawkes, Logan Browning, Kadeem Hardison, Pat Healy, Taylor Sele, Aliyah Camacho, Michael Mando, Marvin Jones III, Michael Xavier, and Dominic Burgess.

With Ed Brubaker, the original creator of Criminal, penning the script for the pilot and serving as co-showrunner with Jordan Harper, the series promises to stay true to its source material. Both Brubaker and Harper will executive produce alongside Sean Phillips, Sarah Carbiener, Phillip Barnett, and Legendary Television. The first four episodes will be directed by the talented duo Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden.
Nick Pepper, head of U.S. SVOD wholly-owned development at Amazon MGM Studios, expressed enthusiasm for the project, highlighting the immense global fanbase for Criminal. Brubaker himself has shared his excitement, noting the incredible support from Amazon in bringing this long-cherished world to life.
As fans eagerly await more details, the addition of Emilia Clarke to the already impressive cast is sure to heighten anticipation. Stay tuned for more updates on the release date and further cast announcements as this thrilling adaptation of Criminal comes together.
