I know, I know, this title sucks! But here comes an explanation. You already know that
Peter Cornwell is on board to direct
Mercy for Universal, right? And you also know that we're talking about an adaptation of
Stephen King‘s short story. But that short story is
Gramma, and the feature film will be
Mercy. It's basically the same thing, but they want to confuse us! Anyway, the good news for today is that another great name is attached to star in this drama thriller –
Dylan McDermott!
McDermott will join the cast which already includes
Frances O'Connor,
Chandler Riggs and
Joel Courtney. Cornwell directs the whole thing from a script written by
Matt Greenberg, and the script is (let us mention once again) based on King's short story
Gramma.
First published in
Weirdbook magazine in 1984, and collected in King's 1985 collection
Skeleton Crew, Gramma aka
Mercy follows two young boys on a visit to the hospital where they learn that their dying grandmother is a witch and that her powers are fueled by a pact with the Ancient Ones.
Still nothing about McDermott's role in the whole thing, but as usual – we'll keep an eye on it, so make sure you stay tuned for more!
