Well, this could be something interesting.
The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight, the young adult novel written by
Jennifer E. Smith, is getting a big screen adaptation.
And, it looks that
Dustin Lance Black will be in charge for the whole thing! Which is a good thing, I guess, especially now, when he revealed that it could be a
When Harry Met Sally for a younger, love-skeptical generation.
But, we should all thank to his
Milk producer Bruna Papandrea for this one. They had a meeting at the Soho House when she gave him a book.
“I was like, ‘Why are you handing me this?'” – said Black and continued: “then she said, ‘Really? If you put it down tonight when you're reading it, you never have to call me again.'”
And it's obvious – he loved it!
So, in case you're not so familiar with the above mentioned book, here's the synopsis:
“Today should be one of the worst days of seventeen-year-old Hadley Sullivan's life. Having missed her flight, she's stuck at JFK airport and late to her father's second wedding, which is taking place in London and involves a soon-to-be stepmother Hadley's never even met. Then she meets the perfect boy in the airport's cramped waiting area. His name is Oliver, he's British, and he's sitting in her row.
A long night on the plane passes in the blink of an eye, and Hadley and Oliver lose track of each other in the airport chaos upon arrival. Can fate intervene to bring them together once more? Quirks of timing play out in this romantic and cinematic novel about family connections, second chances, and first loves. Set over a twenty-four-hour-period, Hadley and Oliver's story will make you believe that true love finds you when you're least expecting it.”
The whole thing still needs a lot of work to come to the screen, but the good thing is that Black already has a few actors in mind to play Hadley and Oliver. Who will have an honor to play this couple – we'll just have to wait and see.
Do you have anyone in mind for this job?
