Walt Disney has released a new logo for
Tangled, an action-packed 3-D animated musical comedy, formerly titled
Rapunzel.
The film's producer, Roy Conli, announced the title change almost as an aside when talking about the film's plot
here.
“In our film, the infamous bandit Flynn Rider meets his match in the girl with the 70 feet of magical golden hair. We're having a lot of fun pairing Flynn, who's seen it all, with Rapunzel, who's been locked away in a tower for 18 years,” said Conli. Rider's voiced by Chuck's
Zachary Levi and Rapunzel herself by Mandy Moore.
New title will hopefully attract both boy and girl audiences.
Tangled, directed by
Byron Howard (Let It Begin, Bolt) and
Nathan Greno (Super Rhino, Let It Begin), features the voices of
Mandy Moore, Zachary Levi, Dan Fogler, Kristin Chenoweth, Reese Witherspoon, Donna Murphy and is scheduled to hit theaters nationwide on November 24th 2010. [source:

I miss the title logo that Disney made before. And besides, that title, “Tangled,” does not make any sense to me, and it is misleading.
An ex-dixney pixar animator Floyd Norman is quoted saying, “The idea of changing the title of a classic like ‘Rapunzel’ to ‘Tangled’ is beyond stupid. I’m convinced they’ll gain nothing from this except the public seeing Disney as desperately trying to find an audience.”
Personally, I’m with Jeff but I can understand why they changed Rapunzel to Tangled to try to appeal more to younger boys, it’s a marketing technique obviously, It’s not going to change the quality of the film for me and I’ll certainly be going to see it in november.

You know, people can rag on the title all they like. Personally, I don’t really care; it’s just semantics. It’s not going to keep me from watching the film even if it’s a simple marketing ploy. The year is 2010 and unfortunately this kind of stuff happens all of the time.
