Disney Has A “Monster Attack Network”
Disney has announced today via Variety that they’re developing an adaptation of the AIT graphic novel “Monster Attack Network” and Netter’s Kickstart Entertainment will produce the film.
Kickstart is also producing Sci Fi Channel’s upcoming series “Painkiller Jane” and has several other comic adaptations in the works – including “The Boys” at Columbia Pictures with Neal H. Moritz.
“Monster Attack Network” was written by Marc Bernardin and Adam Freeman with art from Nima Sorat.
Marvel at the Pacific island of Lapuatu, perfect in every way… except for the giant monsters. Thrill as Nate Klinger and his daring team of first-responders at the Monster Attack Network expertly deal with the frequent rampaging-beast-related crises. Wonder if the shady American industrialist who comes to the island bearing “gifts” and the mysterious, gorgeous Lapuatuan ex-patriate are up to no good. Enjoy the hair-raising adventures of the noble men and the drop-dead sexy women of the Monster Attack Network!
There’s no director in place, nor mention of who is writing the script, but on his official blog Bernardin says that he’d like Nathan Fillion to play the group’s leader, Nate Klinger. We haven’t actually read the comic book, but that piece of casting would obviously push this film toward the top of our must see list. Fillion alone is worth your cinema-going cash, but with sea monsters? Well, that’s just value you can’t argue with.
No production date has been set.
