Well, the frontman for popular indie band Deerhunter,
Bradford Cox is set to play
Jared Leto‘s (30 Seconds to Mars) lover in the
Jean-Marc Vallée-directed '80s AIDS drama
Dallas Buyers Club (a.k.a. The Dallas Buyer's Club).
Vallée (C.R.A.Z.Y.) is currently shooting the movie in New Orleans and has also added
Griffin Dunne and
Denis O'Hare to the rest of the cast which includes fellow patients and various authority figures like
Jennifer Garner, Steve Zahn, and
Dallas Roberts.
The movie based on the true story with a script by
Craig Borten and
Melisa Wallack in which the famed Texan
Matthew McConaughey stars as Ron Woodruff, a man who took it upon himself to smuggle alternative medicine into the US when his own government didn't know how to handle the '80s AIDS crisis. His actions brought him into conflict with the American Food and Drug Administration, of course.
Garner appears as Dr. Eve Sacks, who joins Woodruff's campaign, and Leto plays a cross-dresser dying of AIDS; O'Hare and Dunne are both signed to play the alternative medicine doctors who help Woodroof.
As for Cox, in real life a victim of Marfan syndrome, he also worked on the score and soundtrack for Spike Jonze's Where the Wild Things Are.
Stay tuned.
