David Oyelowo in Negotiations for Tom Cruise’s ONE SHOT
Last year's Martin Luther King Jr. in Lee Daniels' Selma, David Oyelowo is now in final talks for his highest profile part yet, starring opposite Tom Cruise in a Paramount-Skydance adaptation of a 2005 Lee Child's One Shot.
If you went to see Rise of the Planet of the Apes because its summer and you maybe not recognized his name, you would probably recognize his face – Oyelowo appears as the drug company's profit-crazy boss.
Well then, Christopher McQuarrie (The Way of the Gun) will helm One Shot thriller from his own adapted screenplay and Tom Cruise will also produce and it isn't known when production will start on One Shot, but it comes to theaters on February 8, 2013 and also stars Rosamund Pike (Barney's Version). In fact, Paramount is eyeing a fall shoot in Pittsburgh, but this was not confirmed.
The story follows Jack Reacher (Tom Cruise), an ex-military police officer who looks into the case of a sniper arrested for murdering five people. David Oyelowo would play a homicide detective also investigating the killings and Rosamund Pike will portray a district attorney who helps Jack Reacher with his investigation because she is his weak spot.
McQuarrie is better known as a writer than director since he has previously written for Cruise before on Valkyrie and the forthcoming Mission Impossible – Ghost Protocol.
Oyelowo can also be seen starring alongside Emma Stone and Bryce Dallas Howard in Tate Taylor's The Help and has recently finished production on The Paperboy. Talented Oyelowo, who is coming off of a big summer, is going to be in the upcoming Lucasfilm production Red Tails as well; the story of the Tuskegee Airmen, the first African-American pilots to fly in a combat squadron during World War II.
