Comedic legend
Dan Aykroyd is in talks to join
Tammy along with
Allison Janney who is also in talks to appear in New Line's
Melissa McCarthy upcoming project.
They'll both star opposite McCarthy herself,
Ben Falcone, Susan Sarandon and
Mark Duplass.
McCarthy and Falcone stand behind the
Tammy script with Falcone on board to direct the whole thing.
The flick will feature McCarthy as a fast food restaurant employee who, after finding that her husband is cheating on her, quits her job and decides to drive to Mount Rushmore to rediscover herself, but with her alcoholic, foul-mouthed, diabetic grandmother (Sarandon) who insists on making the trip as well.
Duplass plays a man that McCarthy meets on the trip, spawning a strange relationship, while Aykroyd is playing Duplass' father and Janney will play McCarthy's mother.
Since this is a road trip comedy, there might be more characters yet to be cast.
Saturday Night Live vet Aykroyd, who recently appeared in Jay Roach's
The Campaign, will next be seen in Steven Soderbergh's
Behind the Candelabra and then heard in
Legends of Oz: Dorothy's Return in which he voices the Scarecrow.
Janney will next be seen in
Touchy Feely and Sundance's most expensive acquisition
The Way, Way Back.
