Damon and Krasinski Teaming on Erin Brockovich-esque Drama
Two men from Massachusetts setting up an untitled drama at Warner Bros. and it's not the long-rumored Father Daughter Time project, scripted by Matthew Aldrich. Instead, Matt Damon and John Krasinski (The Office) are gearing up for the legal drama, an entirely new movie, which is reportedly compared to Steven Soderbergh's Erin Brockovich in a way that the story centers on a town that was poisoned.
The plot concerns a salesman (Damon) who ‘arrives in a small town only to have his whole life called into question.'
Krasinski came up with the idea for the script and developed the story with novelist Dave Eggers (co-wrote the script for the 2009 Away We Go that Krasinski starred in). He then offered the idea to Damon and got the thesp who has made no secret about his desire to direct, thrilled by the concept.
Chris Moore (Good Will Hunting and The Adjustment Bureau) will be a producer on the film along with Krasinski's Sunday Night Productions.
The script is still not completed, but the pair hope to deliver it by the end of November. They also hope to start shooting the movie next spring.
Damon has a pretty packed schedule as he stars in the upcoming Cameron Crowe bittersweet family drama We Bought a Zoo in December. After that, he will also star in the big-budget sci- fi drama Elysium and the HBO movie Liberace opposite Michael Douglas.
NBC's launching a spin-off of The Office early next year including Krasinski who currently can be seen every Thursday night. He also has a role in The Muppets that hits theaters November 23rd.
More on this later, but for now watch a new video on FunnyOrDie.com that makes fun of how Hollywood celebrities tend to support Democrats. Features: Matt Damon, Ben Stiller, Sean Penn, Jack Black, and Kristen Wiig.
