Dakota Fanning and
Danielle Macdonald have been added to the cast of
Amy Berg‘s female-driven crime movie
Every Secret Thing, starring
Diane Lane and
Elizabeth Banks.
Berg, who directed both critical and crowd hits, Deliver Us From Evil and West of Memphis, will continue her fascination with the dark side of humanity with this much-anticipated narrative helming debut.
Secret Thing follows two 11-year-old girls who are convicted of murdering a baby and incarcerated until they reached 18. Upon their release, children start to go missing; as the police turn their attention once again to the duo. The mystery takes center stage in what sounds like an intriguing character drama.
Fanning and Macdonald will play the convicted 18-year old duo and Lane will play the mother of one of the troubled girls, while Banks is the lead police officer who finds herself emotionally invested in solving the case.
Nicole Holofcener (Please Give, Friends with Money) wrote a screenplay based on the
Laura Lippman's 1994 novel.
Producer
Anthony Bregman earlier said:
Great, female-driven crime movies are few and far between – and one this original and surprising is like a gift. It's gratifying that so many talented and enthusiastic collaborators agree – from the creative to the financial sides and everywhere in between.
Every Secret Thing is scheduled to begin shooting on March 25th, 2013 in New York.
