Good news for all
Christopher Walken fans out there! We've just learned that the 70-year-old legend is set to star as the real-life mobster Angelo
Gyp DeCarlo in the upcoming
Jersey Boys movie! Yep, we
are talking about the adaptation of the hit Broadway musical which will be directed by
Clint Eastwood. Walken and Eastwood – sounds promising, or what?
So, at this moment we know that Eastwood will direct the whole thing from a script written by two-time Academy Award-nominated writer
John Logan, which is based on the original Broadway script written by
Marshall Brickman and
Rick Elice.
As we previously
reported, the movie will center on
Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons: Valli, Bob Gaudio, Tommy DeVito and Nick Massi.
In other words, Eastwood will tell us:
…the meteoric tale of how a group of blue-collar boys from the wrong side of the tracks became one of the biggest American pop music sensations of all time. They wrote their own songs, invented their own sounds and are one of the best-selling musical groups of all time, having sold an estimated 100 million records worldwide.
Beside Walken, who is set to play
Gyp DeCarlo (the part originated on Broadway by
Mark Lotito), the latest rumors for the film's lead roles include
John Lloyd Young,
Erich Bergen,
Michael Lomenda and
Vincent Piazza.
Anyway,
Jersey Boys is set to begin filming in September, so I guess we'll pretty soon have more (official) updates to share with you.
At the end of this report – little reminder –
Walken sure knows how to dance!
