Rumors, sweet rumors! Well, this is not some huge surprise. After all,
Christopher McQuarrie and
Tom Cruise are no strangers (
Jack Reacher movie, for example), so what the hell, maybe McQuarrie is the perfect man to take a job and direct the next
Mission: Impossible movie! According to the latest reports, that's exactly what guys from Paramount want, and if anyone asks – we're totally cool with this update.
So, we all know that
Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, directed by
Brad Bird, was a huge success (around $700 million worldwide, huh!), so it's safe to say that new movie is a big priority for the studio, right?
On the other hand, McQuarrie is a well-known face and, as I said at the beginning, he definitely looks like the perfect man for the job.
Not to mention that, beside
Jack Reacher project, Cruise and McQuarrie previously worked on
Valkyrie, and McQuarrie has also worked on the scripts for Cruise's
All You Need is Kill and the
Top Gun sequel.

Anyway, here's what we know about the whole thing so far (thanks to
Deadline):
…McQuarrie is the choice to helm the fifth Mission: Impossible film that is in the early stages of being put together by Paramount Pictures and Skydance Productions. They will hire writers before making it official but he's the guy that Cruise and JJ Abrams want.
So, guess that now we'll have to wait for an official confirmation. But everything already makes sense!
What do
