Over a year ago CBS Films announced that Oscar-winner
Edward Zwick is attached to direct the film adaptation of
American Assassin. Then, it's been nearly seven months since
Jeffrey Nachmanoff replaced Ed Zwick.
However, Zwick and writing partner Marshall Herskovitz had long been working on the script from
Vince Flynn's series of books about hero Mitch Rapp. In the meanwhile, it wasn't known if the studio would still use their initial draft, but with
Mike Finch involved, it seems they are starting from scratch.
Now
Bruce Willis, a man with an apparent weapons obsession, is expected to tackle the part of a Rapp's mentor in the upcoming
Lorenzo di Bonaventura-produced movie.
The new movie about a young man who joins the CIA after his girlfriend his killed by a terrorist attack is scheduled to kick off the production in Monteral in the fall of 2013.
CBS FIlms is currently looking for the lead protag who will be the mentee of Willis' character.
Willis who has just wrapped the filming of A Good Day to Die Hard and di Bonaventura worked together in 2010s Red.
Stay tuned.
