Brad Pitt in World War Z
So, we already know that Brad Pitt‘s production company purchased the rights to the film World War Z three years ago and that he was long rumored to be attached as a star as well. But now, it's official.
Brad Pitt will indeed star in the movie and the studios expect a summer 2012 release! That's exactly what author Max Brooks revealed at San Diego's Comic-Con on Thursday.
The movie is adaptation of Max Brooks' World War Z, a novel recounting a zombie apocalypse from the first-hand accounts of those who survived it, which tells the story of a man researching a zombie pandemic that killed a large amount of world's population.
The screenplay was originally written by J. Michael Straczynski, and will be re-written by Matthew Michael Carnahan. Marc Foster is attached to direct the adaptation.
Paramount has also optioned two other zombie novels from Brooks, The Zombie Survival Guide and the graphic novel The Zombie Survival Guide: Recorded Attacks.
“I can't believe how cool Paramount has been to me and these projects, and how cool Plan B has been,” Brooks said, and added:
“I'm glad they took their time, and are trying to make the best zombie movie they can. I'm so glad they stayed with the project and so glad they found the right team.”
