The world of Formula 1 racing is set to hit the big screen with the highly anticipated film “F1,” produced by the legendary Jerry Bruckheimer. The recent release of the film's trailer has sparked significant chatter, especially concerning its budget and potential reshoots. In an exclusive interview with Deadline, Bruckheimer aimed to clear up these misconceptions and provide a glimpse into the making of this thrilling movie.
Budget and Production Insights
Contrary to reports suggesting a staggering $300 million budget, Bruckheimer revealed that the actual cost is much lower due to strategic financial planning. By filming in locations with substantial tax rebates, such as England, Europe, and Abu Dhabi, the production team managed to significantly reduce expenses. Moreover, substantial sponsorship tie-ins with Formula 1 teams further lowered the financial burden. Bruckheimer explained:
“It's completely, unfortunately, tens of millions of dollars out of whack in the wrong direction, and in the right direction for us.”
The film, which is being done in partnership with Formula 1 and its ten teams, has also benefited from creative use of the filming schedule. During last year's industry strikes, the team utilized this time to complete second unit photography, focusing on the cars and driving sequences with stunt drivers. Bruckheimer confirmed that no reshoots were necessary:
“We never re-shot anything, nothing whatsoever. It's a misnomer, a rumor that got spread.”
Star-Studded Cast and Spectacular Visuals
“F1” boasts an impressive cast led by Brad Pitt, who stars as a former driver returning to the racing world. He is joined by Damson Idris, who plays his teammate at the fictional APXGP team. Real F1 drivers will also make appearances, adding authenticity to the racing scenes. The film will feature over an hour of footage in full IMAX, with scenes shot at iconic tracks like Silverstone, Monza, and Las Vegas.

Release Date
Fans can look forward to the film's release, with Warner Bros. Pictures distributing “F1.” The movie is set to premiere in the U.S. on June 27th, 2025, shortly after its global release on June 25th.
With its dynamic blend of star power, cutting-edge visuals, and a deep dive into the high-speed world of Formula 1 racing, “F1” is gearing up to be a cinematic event not to be missed.
