Salt sequel is apparently not dead. And ok, we're
not here to report that
Angelina Jolie will be back as that CIA officer, or to share some huge story details for the follow-up to the 2010 spy movie, but still – in case you liked this movie, I'm sure you'll be happy to hear that Columbia Pictures is in some serious talks with
Becky Johnston to rewrite the script for the (obviously upcoming) sequel.
Becky Johnston is probably best known for
The Prince of Tides, or maybe even better – for
Brad Pitt‘s 1997 movie
Seven Years in Tibet.
I have no idea if Johnston is the perfect name for
Salt story, but I will also remind you that Columbia Pictures previously hired
Kurt Wimmer (aka the man who wrote the script for the original movie) to pen a sequel as well, but (un)fortunately – Jolie wasn't thrilled with it. Or something like that.
Anyway, let us also remind that
Salt, directed by
Phillip Noyce, starred Jolie as A CIA agent who goes on the run after a defector accuses her of being a Russian spy.
The movie grossed $293.5 million worldwide, which definitely means only one thing – there's still a lot of potential in this story.
Or, maybe not?
