In the Bedroom helmer
Todd Field is set to direct a feature adaptation of
Jess Walters’ bestseller novel titled
Beautiful Ruins. Field is teaming with Cross Creek Pictures and Smuggler Films to bring us the story of
an almost-love affair that begins on the Italian coast in 1962 and is rekindled in Hollywood fifty years later. Already sounds promising, or what?
So, at this moment we know that Field and Walter will write the screenplay for the epic story which is set in 1962 off the Ligurian Sea on the Italian Coast, and will revolve around:
…three young characters whose orbit around one another is set in motion by an incident involving the international jet-set center, Rome, in the throws of La Dolce Vita madness during the shooting of Cleopatra, and continues for decades.
Field will produce the film through
Standard Film Company with Cross Creek’s Oliver, Thompson, Smuggler Films’ Milling Smith and Carmody, Adam Kassan will oversee production for
Cross Creek.
We’ll keep an eye on
Beautiful Ruins, make sure you stay tuned!
