Who doesn't love a good murder mystery? Especially when it's crafted by the queen of suspense herself, Agatha Christie. The BBC has just dropped the official trailer for Towards Zero, a three-part mini-series that's already generating buzz for its star-studded cast, intricate plot, and that signature Christie twist. If you're a fan of whodunits, this one's got “binge-watch” written all over it.
Based on Christie's 1944 novel of the same name, Towards Zero follows British tennis star Nevile Strange (played by Oliver Jackson-Cohen) as he navigates a scandalous divorce and an even more scandalous summer reunion with his ex-wife at his aristocratic aunt's estate. But what starts as a tense family gathering quickly spirals into murder when a widow is found dead.

The series boasts a grandiose ensemble cast, including Anjelica Huston as the formidable matriarch, alongside talents like Matthew Rhys, Mimi Keene, and Clarke Peters. The trailer teases a simmering love triangle, a false theft charge, and a failed suicide—all threads that weave together into a shocking murder plot.
Directed by Sam Yates (Magpie, National Theatre Live: Vanya) and written by Rachel Bennette (Ripper Street, World on Fire), Towards Zero is a co-commission between BBC iPlayer, BBC One, and BritBox International. The series is set to stream on BBC iPlayer starting March 2, 2025, but the trailer is already available to whet your appetite.
What makes Towards Zero stand out is its ability to balance Christie's classic storytelling with modern sensibilities. The trailer hints at lush cinematography, sharp dialogue, and a pacing that starts slow but builds to a crescendo of chaos—a hallmark of Christie's best works. The casting is impeccable, with Anjelica Huston stealing every frame she's in, and Oliver Jackson-Cohen bringing a brooding intensity to Nevile Strange.

However, the real star here is Christie's plot, which masterfully intertwines personal drama with a chilling murder mystery. The adaptation seems to stay true to the source material while adding enough flair to keep even die-hard fans on their toes.
Towards Zero looks like another winner in the BBC's long line of Agatha Christie adaptations. With its stellar cast, gripping plot, and lush production values, it's poised to be a must-watch for mystery lovers. But will it live up to the hype? Only time will tell.
What's your favorite Agatha Christie adaptation, and do you think Towards Zero has what it takes to top it?
