Divergent cast is getting bigger! We've just learned that
Ashley Judd has joined previously announced
Shailene Woodley,
Kate Winslet and
Theo James in
Neil Burger‘s upcoming adaptation of
Veronica Roth‘s best-selling book of the same name. And, what definitely sounds great is that Judd is on board to play Woodley's mother!
So, as we previously reported, Burger is on board to direct the movie from the script written by
Vanessa Taylor and
Evan Daugherty.
Decribed as
a thrilling adventure set in a future world where people are divided into distinct factions based on their personalities,
Divergent revolves around:
…Tris Prior who is warned she is Divergent and will never fit into any one group. When she discovers a conspiracy to destroy all Divergents, she must find out what makes being Divergent so dangerous before it's too late.
Shailene Woodley is set to play the above mentioned Tris Prior, and as we said at the beginning of this report,
Ashley Judd jumps in to play her mother – woman who watches her two children join other factions.
The rest of the cast also includes
Ray Stevenson,
Mekhi Phifer,
Maggie Q,
Jai Courtney,
Miles Teller,
Zoë Kravitz,
Ansel Elgort,
Ben Lloyd-Hughes,
Ben Lamb,
Christian Madsen and
Amy Newbold.
Divergent began shooting earlier this week in Chicago, which means that we'll soon have more updates to share.
Make sure you stay tuned!
