Ben Affleck, who recently got a first-class tour of Turkey after the mayor of Istanbul volunteered to show him the sights, has added three:
Taylor Schilling,
Tate Donovan (Damages) and
Nelson Franklin (The Office) to Warner Bros.' political thriller ensemble cast.
As you maybe know Affleck is shooting his upcoming political drama
Argo, about the Iran hostage crisis, in Turkey. Sultan Ahmet Square is a plaza Affleck scouted as a potential shooting location for his upcoming movie in which he also stars as Tony Mendez, the CIA exfiltration expert who created a fake Hollywood production in order to rescue six Americans from the Tehran.
The ‘Canadian Caper' was made into a TV movie called Escape from Iran: The Canadian Caper in 1981. Back In May 2007, it was announced that
George Clooney and
Grant Heslov would base their next script on the ‘Canadian Caper' the popular name given to the secret rescue by the Government of Canada. In fact, Clooney and Heslov are producing the
Chris Terrio-scripted film.
Schilling will play Christine Mendez, a former teacher who sit at home and worries about her husband (Affleck) while he's off on a dangerous mission. Donovan will play Bob Anders, a U.S. embassy consular officer in Tehran, while Franklin will play a journalist. Schilling is the first actress to jump on board the cast that already includes
Bryan Cranston, Kyle Chandler, John Goodman, Alan Arkin and
Scoot McNairy.
Real-life CIA thriller Argo comes to theaters in 2013.
Schilling had been most known for the lead character in NBC's 2009 drama Mercy. She also portrayed Dagny Taggart in the 2011 film adaptation Atlas Shrugged and will next be seen as the female lead opposite Zac Efron in
The Lucky One.
