Danish
superhero film
Antboy is part of the five kid friendly titles among TIFF festival lineup. We've got our first look at the fun looking flick from Denmark today.
Based on a series of children's books by Kenneth Bøgh Andersen, this odd cross between
Spider-Man and
Kick-Ass takes a welcome G-rated approach.
The
Ask Hasselbalch-directed feature follows a twelve-year-old Pelle who accidentally gets bitten by an ant and develops unimaginable superpowers. With help from his friend, comic book nerd Wilhelm, Pelle creates a secret identity as the superhero Antboy and becomes a local crime fighter. When a supervillain, The Flea, enters the scene, Antboy must step up to the challenge.
Antboy starring
Oscar Dietz as Pelle and
Nicolas Bro as the supervillain Flea, along with
Samuel Ting Graf and
Amalie Kruse Jensen.
The film premieres at TIFF on September 5th and opens in Danish theaters on October 3rd, 2013.
