One thing we've learned last October is that
Edgar Wright‘s
Ant-Man has a
release date of November 6th, 2015, and that will therefore be part of Marvel Cinematic Universe Phase Three.
Now comes word that Ant-Man will have company as part of Marvel's future films following their Phase Two slate of
Iron Man 3, Thor: The Dark World, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and
Guardians of the Galaxy.
Marvel Studios boss
Kevin Feige says
Doctor Strange will also finally have his own movie. Marvel‘s President of Production said:
Doctor Strange, which I've been talking about for years, is definitely one of them. … He's a great, original character, and he checks the box off this criteria that I have: he's totally different from anything else we have, just like Guardians of the Galaxy. He's totally different from anything we've done before, as is Ant-Man, which keeps us excited.
Speaking of that, Marvel hired screenwriters
Thomas Donnelly and
Joshua Oppenheimer (Conan the Barbarian) in June 2010 to write Doctor Strange with a relatively low budget, but it's not mentioned now.
Since Ant-Man is slated for November 2015, the earliest we'll see Dr. Strange, is 2016. Phase Three starts with The Avengers II release on May 1st, 2015.
