Anna Faris in Private Benjamin Remake
Anna Faris is set to star in a remake of Private Benjamin.
So as you see, this actress could take over Goldie Hawn‘s role from 1980, in new remake (yes, if it's not 3D then it's a remake), but unfortunately we still don't have any information about the possible director.
The only thing we know is that Amy Talkington is in talks to write for producer Mark Gordon.
We're more than sure you all remember that interesting story about Judy Benjamin, a Jewish-American woman who joins the U.S. Army after her new husband dies on their wedding night during sex.
Duped by a sneaky recruiting sergeant who lets her believe military life to be more glamorous than it is, she has a rude awakening in boot camp. After getting in trouble constantly, Judy wants to quit but chooses to stick it out, and has a series of adventures which eventually lead to promotion.
Of course, this modern version will be updated for modern times. Producers say the remake won't make enlisted men and women the butt of its jokes; rather, it will center on how military service is empowering and can be a fish-out-of-water scenario for enlistees.
We all know that original movie was one of the top-grossing flicks the year it was released, and it was nominated for Academy Awards for Best Actress in a Leading Role (Goldie Hawn of course), Best Actress in a Supporting Role (Eileen Brennan), and Best Writing – Screenplay Written Directly for the Screen.
So as you see, not an easy job for Faris! She will be the third actress to play the part of Private Benjamin, since she follows Lorna Patterson's three-season role on the small screen.
Faris was last seen in the 2009 mall-cop comedy Observe and Report so we guess this role could be something fresh for an actress we used to watch in comedies all the time.
It's really interesting that every single news is referring to remakes lately, and looks like this is not going to be the last one.
Anyway, if you liked old Private Benjamin, than you're definitely hoping this remake will be at least as funny as the original, since that film is ranked 82nd by the American Film Institute's “100 Funniest Movies” poll. Hollywood, don't disappoint us!
